South African Journal of Science

SAJS Vol.105No.11-12Established in 1903, the South African Journal of Science is the leading multidisciplinary research journal in Africa, and features a great diversity of original work by researchers throughout the country and abroad, concentrating on articles that have an appeal that is wider than that of single disciplines.

Peer-reviewed articles comprise reviews, research articles and research letters. Commentaries, news features and book reviews are published to keep readers informed of recent news and developments in science and research.

SAJS adopted a new editorial model in 2009, with an editor-in-chief, an assistant editor and ten discipline-specific associate editors responsible for the following fields: Chemistry; Physics, Astronomy and Mathematics; Engineering, Technology and Computer Sciences; Earth and Environmental Sciences; Cell and Molecular Biology; Organismal Biology; Agriculture and Forestry; Humanities, Social Sciences, and Education; and Archaeology and Physical Anthropology.

As part of the Academy of Science of South Africa Scholarly Publishing initiative, since May 2009, SAJS has been available on an Open-Access platform as the first pilot project of this exciting venture. This enables increased visibility and accessibility of published articles for authors and readers.
