Quest – Online mathematics and science classes

Prior to the Department of Basic Education’s (DBE) online teaching interventions, Quest offered daily online mathematics and science classes on social media (predominantly on Facebook and Twitter), in response to the classroom teaching restrictions imposed by the national lockdown. The three-hour long classes ran daily between 18 and 28 March 2020 and were targeted at grade 10-12 mathematics, physical sciences and life sciences learners.

Each day focused on a specific subject and topic and the topic would be covered to its completion over three to four days before the next subject and topic were considered. YouTube videos from various sources that covered specific areas of the curriculum were carefully selected. With the introduction of the DBE online teaching intervention via television and social media, the Quest classes were discontinued.
