DESCRIPTION:Every year on 26 April\, South Africa along with the rest of the world\, celebrate World Intellectual Property Day to learn about the role that intellectual property (IP) rights play in encouraging innovation and creativity. This year the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf) would like to recognise the huge potential of young people to find new and better solutions that support the transition to a sustainable future\, along with others all over the globe. \nIP rights can support goals\, transform ideas into reality\, generate income\, create jobs and make a positive impact on the world around us. With IP rights\, young people have access to some of the key tools they need to advance their ambitions. An understanding of trademarks\, design rights\, copyright\, patents\, trade secrets and more are of the essence. \nFor more information we urge young people to consult with their institutional IP office\, the Department of Trade\, Industry and Competition\, the Department of Small Business Development\, the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA)\, the National Advisory Council on Innovation (NACI) and/or the National Intellectual Property Management Office (NIPMO). \nASSAf takes great pride in celebrating the youth – an exciting generation of change-makers!  \nhttps://www.wipo.int/ip-outreach/en/ipday/ \n
