The SciELO SA open access platform for prestigious South Africa has added a total of 80 titles. The SciELO Network  is a collection of prestigious open access scholarly journals. The project originated in Brazil 21 years ago and now includes a total of 15 national collections, mostly from South America, and also from Spain, Portugal, and South Africa (since 2009).

SciELO Network COVID-19 articles and texts – Since March 2020 the SciELO Network has been highlighting articles and texts, both published and pre-prints, dealing with the pandemic.

The SciELO SA national collection was assessed again by the SciELO Network in May 2020 for adherence to the strict Network criteria for continued inclusion. The platform was again commended for adhering to high international publishing standards.
