Mia Strand from the Department of Development Studies, Nelson Mandela University, Gqeberha, South Africa has been selected as the Frontiers Prize: National Champion of South Africa i for her article on Reimagining Ocean Stewardship: Arts-Based Methods to ‘Hear’ and ‘See’ Indigenous and Local Knowledge in Ocean Management (Frontiers in Marine Science, 2022).

The National Champions now move forward to the final round of the competition, where three International Champions will be awarded 1 million CHF each to support their research.
