The webinar will highlight the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP) as a model of transboundary water and energy cooperation, showcasing its role in advancing energy security and broader developmental agendas for both South Africa and Lesotho. It will also respond to the African Union’s 2026 Theme of the Year and Africa Day focus – “Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063.” By foregrounding the LHWP, the event will illustrate how integrated water‑energy‑development approaches can strengthen sustainable water resources, improve sanitation systems, and support regional integration, climate resilience, and equitable socio‑economic progress.
